Located next to the Town Hall in the beautiful Piazza della Repubblica, this church has undergone significant architectural changes over time, and now has a beautiful facade flanked by a twelve-sided tower, similar to the tower of La Badia, just off the cliff of Orvieto.
Historically significant, in medieval times, the appointments of cardinals and Pope Martin IV Nicholas IV and Boniface VIII, took place in this church.
In the basement of the church are the remains of ancient Etruscan and Roman buildings and an Early Christian church. The basement can be visited with a guide by reservation.
During the last restoration contemporary works such as sculptures of the portal and the stained glass of the rose window of Ilario Ciaurro were added to the facade.
