This beautiful church in the center of Orvieto, was built on the ruins of an ancient temple and in the Middle Ages and had a considerable importance. Even its architecture was more complex, having attached to it the bell tower, baptismal font and hospital.
In the church today under the main altar are the relics of Saints Severo and Martirio (previously placed in the Abbey of Saints Severo and Martirio) were relocated to the church as a result of the expulsion of the Benedictines of Orvieto by Pope Honorius III.
