For a long time, this large church served as the “cathedral” of the Orvieto, also becoming a stage of important historical events (see the canonization of the French King by Pope Boniface VIII). The church also has the distinction of having been built around 1227 on the highest point of the cliff. For a long time it was visited by the Franciscan monks who, like the Dominicans, were a constant presence in the city.
Today, this Romanesque church is one of the most fascinating churches to visit in the center of Orvieto. Located in the heart of the historic center just steps from the Duomo and the artisan street.
