From the city of Orvieto take the SS Cassia Montefiascone-Viterbo. Driving through the Lazio countryside, you will cross through Montefiascone. It is worth a stop to see the cathedral and the beautiful fortress Rocca dei Papi, where you can enjoy amazing views of Bolsena Lake. Viterbo is another 15 minute drive from Montefiascone.
Viterbo is a city full of attractions: the old part of the medieval quarters of Piano Scarano and San Pellegrino, the home of Santa Rosa and a beautiful Palazzo Papale. It is worth bringing a bathing suit and visiting Terme dei Papi. It is a natural hot sulfur spring right outside of the city. The public area is Bullicame, which is sprinkled with natural pools.
