Orvieto-San Venanzo

To get to San Venanzo, continue the road up to  Colonnetta Prodo and Monte Peglia. This route crosses numerous small villages and, going up is the context becomes increasingly green and rich in nature. After about 18 km it will arrive to the nature of the Park of Sette Frati, added to a portion of Monte Peglia (Mab Unesco).

The area is equipped for picnics and with marked trails ideal for hiking and nature walks among numerous botanical species and a wide variety of local wildlife. After crossing the park, heading towards Marsciano, you reach the village of San Venanzo, the last town to the north of the province of Terni. In the country we note the Volcanological Park Museum which consists of a series of nature trails along the perimeter of the ancient “bonsai volcanoes” and an exhibition documentation center in the town center where minerals are exposed (including the “venanzite” typical and unique of this territory) and fossils of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. The surroundings of San Venanzo and Peglia are characterized by small villages and important natural areas, among them the creek area Fersinone with its clear waters.
