Situated in Piazza San Giovanni the church of San Giovanni Evangelista is one the most ancient in Orvieto. It was probably built over the ruins of an original roman temple that it was built over another previous Etruscan temple. It has a large cloister constructed by the monsignor Alberi in the first years of 500.
The old convent of the church houses the complex of the Palazzo del Gusto. It hosts important events such as the food and wine event “Orvieto con Gusto”, “Orvieto Food Festival” and ” Cantine aperte”and at the basement of this palace there is the “Enoteca Regionale” with a great exposition and collections of important local and Umbrian wines.
