This place gets its name from its layrinthic structure, a series of wells, caves (20) and underground rooms that were discovered in the 1970s by the owners Adriano and Rita, while renovating their upstairs famous pastry shop floors.
Today il Labirinto di Adriano (Adrian’s Labyrinth) is an archaeological site, a private museum and an incredible attraction in Orvieto, thanks to its history and design.
In it visitors can admire Etruscan cisterns, medieval dumpsters and volcanic stratifications where there is also a 250.000 years-old vegetal fossil. Visitors will travel through history and down to a depth of almost 20 meters below street level, taking a trip back in time. The entrance of the labirinto is shared with the Labirinto’s restaurant, a great place to taste local and italian food.
