From Orvieto head towards Bagnoregio/Lubriano, two towns in the Lazio region, only a few kilometers from the border of Umbria. Once you arrive in Bagnoregio follow the signs to the village of Civita di Bagnoregio. Civita can only be reach on foot via a long panoramic bridge. (Ticket fee is required to enter the borough). Civita di Bagnoregio may be considered a true open-air museum. It is a pleasure to walk through its picturesque streets and ancient buildings. Don’t miss the church of San Donato in the main square and the Museo delle Frane.
How to get from Orvieto to Civita di Bagnoregio without a car
For those who do not have their own vehicle, they can reach Civita from Orvieto scalo with a taxi service or with the extra-urban bus service of the Cotral lines (departure from Piazza Matteotti, Orvieto scalo, railway station area) active from Monday to Saturday (Sunday is not active service) with the following timetables (Valid until: 03/03/2024. Nearby and exactly at the foot of Civita, entering from the town of Lubriano, a visit to the green route of the open-air naturalistic museum of the Valle dei Calanchi is also interesting, a simple signposted route of about 3 km where educational and information on the flora and characteristics of this original territory.
